DIY Synths & Effects @ BerMuDa

! Past ! - 05.11.2011 - 2-8pm _ BERLIN

We are happy that the De:Bug invited us again to the Musiktechniktage 2011 in Berlin. This year we will bring our soldering irons and start a monstrous soldering session. It goes like this: You can create one of our diy-machines between 2 and 8pm. Who has registered can come and start somewhen between 2 and 5.30 pm, pick a machine spontaneously and go for it. A description of the machines you can build that day is below. For one machine you need (depends on your soldering skills) between 2 and 3 hours, the Bumsss is more complex so add one hour.

The fee of 40€ (Bumsss 75€) has to be paid at the workshop and includes all materials like circuit boards, electronic parts and housings, except knobs for the potentiometers. Please bring your soldering iron and tools!!! A registration is neccesary and binding! The duration of the workshop is about 3 hours. Most of our kits are suitable for beginners.

Der Workshop is a cooperation between LeafAudio and Curetronic and takes part at Kater Holzig in Berlin.

You will find a PDF with info about soldering equipment here.

Here is a nice review about our workshops (in german) and here's our Facebook site.

Noisefoc: The Noisefoc has got 3 Oscillators, wich can modulate each other. For controlling the frequencies potentiometers and a light resistor are used, so you can also play it with light sources! A chaos control leads the circuit into uncontrollable chaos and results in cool noise sounds. You can do things like noise, drones, highfrequent sounds or clicking rhythmical sounds. Output is a 6,3mm TRS jack.

Bumsss: Bumsss is our biggest kit. It is a drum synthesizer like in the old days, analogue and monophonic. You can trigger it by beating the box. An envelope controls the length and pitch of the tone. A flexible LFO and a Noise can produce interesting modulations - from light vibratos to harsh frequency modulations. As a live machine or for creating samples in the studio, the Bumsss can do all from snare-, bassdrum-, hihat-sounds or synth effects. It has a trigger-input and a control-in for the pitch, so you can control and integrate it in other systems like modular synthesizers or DAW-setups. Tipp: You can trigger it by audio signals (from Ableton or whatever), so it's super easy to intergrate in in your digital setup without Midi or expensive stuff!!! See a little video here or listen to an audio demo here.

NoiseFuzzFilter: The NoiseFuzzFilter is a modular effect box with Lopass-Filter with resonance, a noise generator and a mini-fuzz. All in's and out's are made as separate 6,3mm TRS jacks. The Filter sounds trashy and has a nice overdrive function if you insert loud signals. It's also cool to amplify audio signals a bit.

Fuzz-O-Mat: Our Fuzz-O-Mat is god's lethal lash, camouflaged as a snack box!!! It is a super heavy and kaputt sounding distortion wich works for synth, beats, guitar & bass. 6,3mm TRS in and output, good for people who like stuff like the machines of Metasonix. Here you find a test at Navs Modular Lab.

RingDing: A ringmodulator creates a new synthetic sound from 2 inputs, wich sounds very interesting. Our RingDing is a Ringmodulator with 2 build in square-oscillators, their pitch can be controlled independently by two knobs. You can also insert external sounds by 6,3mm TRS jacks instead of the internal oscillators. Pitch of one oscillator is controllable by exernal control voltage (from modular synths for example). Runs on 9 volt battery.
